Meet our Amazing Team of Dog Walkers and Pet Sitters
Urban Tailz has been providing daily dog walking, cat sitting, and pet sitting services on the North Side of Chicago since 2000, providing over 750,000 visits to thousands of happy pets. We are one of the oldest and highest-rated dog walking companies in Chicago. We have learned so much over the years, and we strive to continually improve our services for our clients. We believe technology is vital to our business, but that a personal touch is the most important thing for our clients.
Our pet sitters are employees who have been background checked and have gone through a week-long training course before providing pet care services on their own. Urban Tailz does not use independent contractors like many dog walking companies, which means our pet sitters are well-trained, held up to a higher standard, and covered by all Urban Tailz insurance. Urban Tailz is also licensed, bonded, and insured to provide pet sitting services in Chicago.
our managers
AUSTIN – Territory Manager
Hey, I’m Austin! I grew up in Connecticut and was an Animal Planet, Nat Geo, and Discovery Channel fanatic. I was inspired by wildlife legends like Steve Irwin, Jeff Corwin, and David Attenborough, which sparked a lifelong passion for animals. I’ve been professionally involved in the pet care industry since 2013, working across the Midwest, Southwest, and East Coast and I’ve truly loved every step of the journey. If I were a dog, I’d want to be a Spanish Mastiff—big, noble, determined, intelligent, and self-assured. Lying in a field in the sun and guarding a farm all day and night wouldn’t be a bad life.
In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my own pets: Rye, my energetic Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mix, my Green Bottle Blue tarantula named Taran, and the colorful crew in my freshwater fish tanks. I’m also a big fan of storytelling, whether it’s through reading, writing, watching horror movies, or diving into tabletop and PC games. What I love most about this job is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with our four-legged clients and their families. Animals are honest, intuitive, and endlessly rewarding to work with—and I’m so grateful to be part of a team like Urban Tailz that shares those values.
DARIAN – Territory Manager
Hi, I’m Darian! I’m from a super small town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, right on Lake Superior, and I moved to Chicago in 2013. I grew up with lots of dogs and cats, and I became a dog walker when I first moved here because I missed my pups back home and needed some furry friends in my city life. My fiancé and I currently have a cat named Monet—he’s about 10 years old and one of the fuzziest cats I’ve ever met—and a dog named Jojo, who’s around 4 and the queen of snuggles. If I were a dog, I’d be a Bernese Mountain Dog—they’re big, beautiful, and can run through the snow without ever getting cold.
What’s not to love about walking dogs? You get to hang out with cute pups all day and get some exercise while you’re at it! I especially love that moment when an animal truly trusts you—there’s no better feeling than helping a dog, cat, or any other critter feel safe and protected. In my spare time, I’m usually at a concert or music festival (I try to hit at least one show a week), and I also enjoy riding my bike, hiking with Jojo, cooking with my fiancé, and doing puzzles or crafts.

BRENDA F – Lead Pet Sitter
Hi my name is Brenda!! I was born here in Chicago but moved to Michigan when I was 14. I enjoyed the fresh air and country life there but the city lights were calling me back home to Chicago. So I moved back when I was 21 and I’ve been here ever since enjoying all the great things this city has to offer.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my fur babies and also my family. I also enjoy going to the movies, bowling and camping. I joined the urban tailz team because I’ve always actually wanted to work with dogs. So I’m excited to walk your pets! I’ll treat them as they were my own.
JOHN H – Lead Pet Sitter
Hi there, I’m John, a Nebraska native with a lifelong love for animals. Growing up, I’ve always had a dog by my side, and now I’m lucky enough to share my home with four wonderful “kids.” Judy and Ruby are my two loyal pups, while Bug, my cat, rules the roost with her sassy charm. Oh, and let’s not forget Henry, the cutest jumping spider you’ll ever meet!
I spent over 10 years as a veterinary technician, working with every type of creature you can imagine—whether they have fur, scales, or feathers. My experiences in the field have given me a deep understanding of animal care and a wealth of knowledge. If you were to ask what breed of dog I’d be, I’d definitely say a Golden Retriever—always cheerful, playful, and eager to please.
When I’m not bonding with my fur babies, you’ll find me out exploring the city, getting some exercise with my dogs, or diving into one of my quirky art projects. One of the things I love most about dogs is their unwavering loyalty and the pure joy they bring just by being your best friend for a simple scratch or belly rub.
I’m always excited to meet new wagging tails, personalities, and faces, and I can’t wait to make every new friend feel loved, safe, and cherished.
KATY Z – Lead Pet Sitter
Hi! I’m originally from Cleveland, OH, and I’m so excited to be a part of an amazing community here in Chicago! Animals have always been a huge part of my life. Growing up, my family had all sorts of pets, fostered cats and dogs, and volunteered at our local animal shelter. That early experience made caring for animals feel second nature to me. I went on to earn a degree in Sustainable Agriculture, which deepened my respect for how every living thing contributes to the balance of our environment and community. Professionally, I started as a veterinary receptionist before transitioning into hands-on pet care with a small business in Cleveland. Now in Chicago, I’m thrilled to continue providing compassionate, high-quality care to both pets and their people.
At home, I have a fun little crew of my own: a polydactyl grey cat named Denver, a one-year-old German Shepherd mix named Aspen, and a very handsome orange kitty named Frisco. If I were a dog breed, I’d probably be a Border Collie mix—loyal, independent, always eager for a challenge, and happiest when I have a purpose (and access to the outdoors!) Outside of work, I love spending time with friends, exploring new restaurants and shops, hiking, and rollerblading—but I also fully appreciate a good couch day when it’s needed. The best part of this job? Seeing the joy that great pet care brings to both animals and their humans. I truly believe that the unconditional love our pets give us is one of the most special things in the world—and I feel lucky to be part of that bond every day!
MAYA K – Lead Pet Sitter
Hello, I’m Maya! Before joining Urban Tailz I worked in mental health services and was pursuing a graduate degree in psychology. In 2019, I started pet sitting and dog walking alongside my full-time job as a way to de-stress and explore the city.
I found myself having so much fun that I decided to change career paths! I am thrilled to be doing a job I genuinely love at Urban Tailz. In my free time, I enjoy exploring as many state and national parks as I can, making art, and catching up with friends and family over coffee.
SEAN N – Lead Pet Sitter
Hi, I’m Sean! I’m from all over the U.S.—I grew up in Nebraska, Iowa, Texas, Wisconsin, and Ohio, spent ten years living in Los Angeles after college, and have been here in Chicago since 2021. I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life; my family had two Dobermans when I was younger, and now my fur baby Hulk is an only child. For the past year and a half, I’ve also been volunteering and working at an animal shelter in Skokie, which has deepened my passion for animal care.
I’m not sure I’d choose this breed myself, but my wife often says I’m a golden retriever—friendly, quick to trust, loyal, and maybe a little aloof at times. Outside of dog walking, I love kayaking, hiking, and taking on home renovation projects. I’m also currently getting certified in scuba diving! What I love most about animals—especially dogs—is their capacity for unconditional love. Even dogs who’ve been through incredibly hard times often still want nothing more than to find a home and a family to trust. Watching that connection happen brings out the best in both people and pets.

AIDEN C
Hi, I’m Aiden! I’m originally from Westchester, NY, but my family now lives up in Vermont—along with their three dogs: two hound mixes and a very laid-back golden retriever who’s basically a giant muppet. I’ve always grown up in dog-filled households, and over the years I’ve helped organize adoption events for local shelters in my hometown, done some dogsitting while I was in college in Boston, and learned a lot about how different animals navigate the world. The hound mixes, for example, were brought up during COVID and can be shy in public, but they’re incredibly sweet once they’ve built trust. Each pup I’ve met has taught me something new.
If I were a dog, I think I’d be a corgi—full of energy and personality in a small package! Outside of dog walking, I spend most of my time teaching and playing music—I’m primarily a jazz trombonist. I also love to knit, bake, and wind down with a good movie or TV show. What I love most about walking dogs is being outdoors and getting to connect with animals in a way that brightens their day (and mine). Animals are naturally joyful and curious, and every one I meet has their own unique character—it’s a privilege to spend time with them and learn from their perspective.
AJ D
Hi, I’m AJ (they/them)! I have absolutely adored dogs for my whole life. Growing up in little South Saint Paul, Minnesota, I was often late to school because I would stop to say good morning to every dog along the way! I moved to Uptown last year and love it here.
I love seeing dog and cat friends every day, and it has been fantastic to get more exercise! I also love all small animals.
When I’m not walking dogs, I’m running my small business, taking photographs, in acting class (it’s my last one!), volunteering, or at home relaxing with my spouse and fuzzy friends.
ALLISON T
Hi, I’m Allison! I’m originally from Houston, Texas, and I’ve been living in Chicago since 2020. I’ve grown up with dogs in the family my whole life and spent my middle and high school years taking care of neighborhood pups, which gave me a strong foundation in animal care early on. I don’t currently have any pets of my own, so I’m especially looking forward to quality time with the wonderful pets of Chicago. If I were a dog, I think I’d be a sweet, happy yellow Lab—affectionate, friendly, and always excited to be part of the pack.
Outside of dog walking, I love cooking, baking, and seeing as many movies as I can. What I enjoy most about walking dogs is the chance to build a connection and bring a little joy to their day. We play such an important role in their routine, and being able to help them explore, get exercise, and feel happy is incredibly fulfilling. Animals have such a powerful ability to love and trust us unconditionally—and that bond is something I never take for granted. They deserve all the love and care we can give in return.
ATHENA V
Hey everyone, my name is Athena! I just moved into the city after growing up in the southwestern suburbs of Chicago. I graduated from College of Dupage last year and love to shoot photography, draw, and create art in my spare time! My grandmother naturally brought home animals to take care of so I spent my childhood around many pets. I love spending time with cute doggos so much I adopted my own two years ago and we’ve been inseparable ever since. I am very grateful to find a sweet job where I can meet everyone’s best furry friends!
BECCA S
Hi, I’m Becca! I’ve lived in Chicago for over 20 years and have been a lifelong animal lover and pet owner. Over the years, I’ve volunteered walking dogs at a local shelter, pet sat for friends and neighbors, and done extensive training with my current pup—everything from obedience to agility work. I’m the proud mom of Pear, a two-year-old Aussie mix full of energy and smarts, and Twizzler, our family’s bearded dragon who brings a whole different kind of charm to the house.
If I were a dog, I’d be a golden retriever—I love people, I love other dogs, and I’m always happy to be part of the pack. Outside of dog walking, I’m a mom of two and love spending time cooking, practicing yoga, and going to live music shows. Walking dogs gives me a chance to breathe in fresh air, get moving, and watch the city transform through the seasons. Animals, to me, are the purest form of unconditional love, and I feel lucky every day to spend time with them.
BRIAN H
Hello, I’m Brian! I’m originally from central Florida but left to attend college in Tallahassee, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology. In 2024, I decided to leave the state entirely, moving to Chicago before my diploma was even printed. Most of my experience with animals comes from my time in college—I’ve assisted in animal surgeries, vaccinated small herds of goats, and cared for nearly 60 dogs and cats over a holiday weekend. I even once had to reach the full length of my latex-gloved arm inside a pregnant cow! I’d say my greatest strengths in animal handling are my resilience and adaptability.
Currently, I don’t have any pets. For ethical and personal reasons, I’ve made a promise to myself not to take on any animal companions until I can afford a studio apartment. In my free time, I’m a huge fan of superhero comic books and “Dungeons & Dragons.” Most of my downtime is spent reading digital books or watching and playing tabletop role-playing games. What I love most about animals is their pure, joyful energy—watching their tails and butts bounce as they happily trot along, or seeing them lay on their backs with their soft, furry bellies exposed. Whether domestic or wild, there’s something endlessly endearing about their cuddly appeal.
CALDY C
Hi, I’m Caldy! I grew up in Glenview, just outside of Chicago, and I’ve had the chance to work with all kinds of animals both formally and informally. Back home, I helped provide room and board for pets through an alternative app, and I also have experience assisting educated exotic animal owners with their pets. On top of that, I’ve raised a few animals myself over the years. These days, I live with a tarantula of my own, help care for my family dog almost daily, and lend a hand with friends’ cats from time to time. I’m even hoping to add a cat—or maybe even a whiptail scorpion—to my household in the future.
If I were a dog, I’d probably be a husky—obsessed with fall and winter, full of expression, and occasionally a little dramatic when I’m grumpy. Outside of dog walking, my hobbies are always rotating, but the ones that stick around are visiting roller coaster/theme parks, watching haunted houses and scary movies, going to concerts and collecting vinyl, and gardening. What I love most about walking dogs is their endless curiosity and excitement—it’s impossible not to smile when they’re hyped about every little thing. More broadly, what I love about animals is their incredible variety. From birds’ lightweight bones to tusks, horns, and the strange life in the ocean, there’s always something fascinating to learn. And I really admire how some animals even live in symbiotic relationships—because who doesn’t want to be loved or needed?
CAMDEN P
Hi, I’m Camden! I grew up in southeast Tennessee, spent some time in Indiana, and now call Chicago home. I’ve been around animals my whole life—dogs, cats, and more—and started working in animal care at just 15 years old. Since then, I’ve held various kennel and grooming positions, gaining hands-on experience and a strong understanding of how to help pets feel safe and comfortable. I currently live with my beautiful long-haired cat, Rigby, who keeps things cozy at home.
If I were a dog, I’d probably be a Borzoi or a Greyhound—maybe a little timid at first, but friendly and quick to learn once I’ve warmed up. Outside of dog walking, I love making music and playing video games with my friends who live out of state. What I enjoy most about walking dogs is getting to see them genuinely happy—it means a lot to me that they feel safe, relaxed, and excited while out exploring. Animals are such positive, non-judgmental companions, and their happiness is incredibly contagious. Seeing them thrive always brightens my day.
CELIE S
Hi there! I’m Celie, and I have been taking care of pets for over 6 years now. I worked at the Humane Society, cared for animals young and old, and have handled dogs, cats, birds, and reptiles! Originally from TN, I’m comfortable handling animals of all sizes. Nice to meet you~
CHARLIE P
Hey there, I’m Charlie! I’m a recent graduate from Columbia College Chicago majoring in music and minoring in music business. My main interests are music and soccer. I grew up with two cats and a small pug and I adored all of them equally. I have a special place in my heart for animals and I promise to give them all the love and attention they need when I am walking/looking after them.
C.J. L
Hi, I’m C.J.! I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, but I have lived in Chicago for three years. I have been surrounded by family pets my whole life, along with six years of pet sitting, and I value the irreplaceable joy they bring to life. My favorite thing about dog walking is exploring the amazing city, especially in such great company. Every animal I meet has a distinct personality and I love learning each idiosyncrasy and quirk! Speaking of quirky pets, I live with Obie, a big cat with an even bigger personality.
When I’m not walking dogs or cuddling cats, I’m playing music with my friends, seeking the best cup of coffee in Chicago, or painting!
COLLIN M
Hey everyone, my name is Collin! I have lived in Chicago since 2023, after living in the Northwest suburbs where I was raised. I went to school at University of Wisconsin-Madison and I love to create edits, act, sing, and perform in my spare time! My family has owned multiple pets all my life and I have been blessed with time to spend with and take care of them. I am so grateful to be a part of such an amazing organization that allows me to take care of and spend time with all of your beautiful pets.
CONNER S
Hi, I’m Conner! I’m originally from Hendersonville, Tennessee, and I’ve always loved being around animals. I grew up with a chocolate lab and spent a lot of time with friends who had dogs of all kinds. In college, I worked for a different dog walking company, which gave me even more hands-on experience and confirmed just how much I enjoy spending time with pups. I don’t currently have any pets—life with three roommates keeps things pretty busy—but I’ve always pictured myself as a Bernese Mountain Dog: loyal, gentle, and always up for an adventure.
What I love most about walking dogs is getting to hang out with your pup while we both get some good exercise. There’s something special about the loyalty and companionship animals offer, and it’s a joy to be around that energy every day. Outside of dog walking, I perform live comedy, watch movies, and play basketball whenever I can.
CORDELL B
Hi, I’m Cordell! I grew up on a farm right along the Oklahoma/Texas border, surrounded by a close-knit community that always did its best to take care of one another. Life on the farm meant constant exposure to animals, and I’ve been lucky enough to work with many—dogs, cats, horses, and a wide range of farm animals. I’ve helped care for sick or injured animals, assisted with medical needs, and spent plenty of time with pets both at home and as an independent walker. These days, I share my life with Jethro, my sweet old pup who may be losing his eyesight, but still has plenty of energy when it comes to chasing squirrels around the yard!
If I were a dog, I like to think I’d be a greyhound—but I’ve also been told I give off silken windhound energy! Outside of dog walking, I love taking strolls through forest preserves, grabbing lunch in the park, and exploring Chicago’s many museums. What I love most about walking dogs is how freeing it feels—dogs never judge when I dance like nobody’s watching, and that joy is contagious. When it comes to animals in general, I’m constantly in awe of their diversity. You never quite know what you’re going to get when meeting a new animal, and that sense of discovery always excites me.
DAF M
Hi, I’m Daf! I grew up in East Texas and have spent most of my life surrounded by animals. I’ve been a lifelong pet owner, worked as a farm hand, fostered animals, and volunteered as an adoption assistant at Petco. Those experiences gave me a deep appreciation for animal care and the many personalities pets can have. I don’t currently have any pets of my own—apartment living makes that a bit tricky—but I still get my fill of animal companionship through daily walks and time spent with clients’ pets.
If I were a dog, I’d probably be a Beagle—curious, social, and always ready for an adventure. Outside of dog walking, I’m an artist, musician, and technical designer, and I love the balance that working with animals brings to my day. Getting to know each dog’s personality while getting a workout and exploring the city is a pretty great combo. What I love most about dogs is their constant joy—they’re always so happy, and being around that energy is incredibly uplifting.
DAIJA G
Hey, I’m Daija! I’m originally from Memphis, TN, and I’ve always loved working with animals. I’m currently a cat sitter and share my home with my cat, Cuddles, who keeps life entertaining. I’m passionate about building bonds with the pets I care for and love the time I get to spend outdoors while working. Outside of pet care, I enjoy photography and rock climbing. If I were a dog, I think I’d be a Golden Doodle—playful and full of energy. What I love most about animals is their silliness; they never fail to make me smile!
ELI K
EMILY N
Hi, I’m Emily! I grew up with dogs, but I enjoy all pets! I’m patient, reliable, and attentive, so whether your dog needs an energetic walk or a calm companion, I’ll make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved.
When I’m not walking dogs, I enjoy cooking, golfing, spending time with friends and family, and exploring the city. I look forward to meeting your pet and caring for them!
GINA R
Hi there, I’m Gina! I’m a born-and-raised Chicagoan and proud to be part of this city’s vibrant dog-loving community. I’ve spent years helping friends and family care for their pups and, more recently, have been making house visits for traveling friends with cats. I currently live with two mischievous 7-year-old kitties who love to hunt each other around the house, and a 1-year-old puppy who’s part cattle dog and part supernova. If I were a dog, I’d say I’m spiritually an old Lab–Beagle mix—laid back, loyal, and always sniffing out something interesting.
Outside of dog walking, I’m a freelance digital artist specializing in toy design and character art. I run my own studio, and you can even find some of my work in small stores around the city! What I love most about walking dogs is getting those little windows into their personalities—it’s a short visit, but such a wonderful glimpse into who they are. I’ve always admired how emotionally perceptive animals are; they’re incredibly intuitive when it comes to reading people’s energy. Every animal I’ve met seems to have a natural gift for sensing emotion, and it’s an amazing thing to witness.
HEIDI B
Hi, I’m Heidi! I’m a lifelong pet lover who has shared her home with a wide range of furry companions over the years, from German shepherds, to Italian greyhounds, to cats of all stripes. I currently reside with a very opinionated tabby named Ziggy Stardust. When I’m not caring for fur friends, I work as a freelance writer. I looks forward to meeting and spending quality time with the special pet in your life!
IYESHA T
Hi, I’m Iyesha! I’m from Chicago and have experience caring for a wide range of animals. Over the years, I’ve handled both large and small dog breeds, including pit bulls, Cane Corso mixes, Rottweilers, huskies, Belgian Malinois, and terrier mixes. I also have a strong background in cat care. I currently have three cats of my own, and I have fostered many others, at one point caring for up to twelve cats in my home. In addition, I volunteer with PAWS Chicago and have volunteered with Tree House Humane Society in the past. My experience also extends to reptiles, as I have cared for iguanas and snakes as well.
If I were a dog, I would probably be a wolf or a wolf dog, independent, curious, and a little wild at heart. Outside of dog walking, I enjoy reading, crocheting, listening to music, and making hair products. What I love most about walking dogs is getting to engage with them and seeing how happy they are to be outside. I also enjoy the change of scenery and the chance to be outdoors. What I love most about animals is the way they experience the world. They live fully in the moment and approach life with curiosity and excitement, which is something I really admire.
JEN S
Hi, I’m Jen! I’m an organically homegrown Chicagoan (Da Bearsss!), though I spent some time down in the Sunshine State earning my undergraduate degree in psychology. Completing a year-long thesis project was definitely an arduous process, but a valuable experience nonetheless! Eventually, I made my way back to Chicago to reunite with family and pursue a Master’s Degree in Education with a focus on School Counseling. However, my career path took an unexpected turn into the pet care field, which has been sincerely serendipitous!
At home, I have my own mini-zoo that keeps me on my toes. There are two pups: Spuds, a distinguished senior Corgi-terrier mix, and Odie, a ball-obsessed Lab-Basset mix with “seal flippers” for extra traction. Then there’s my trio of cats: Doodle, a black-and-white cuddle bug who’s probably part dog; Penny, a shy calico who does a “happy dance” with her back legs when she’s excited; and Meeko (aka Mykanos), a stocky mackerel grey tabby with a Garfield-like appetite who politely sits for his meals. Both of my dogs love “helping” me in my 2+ years of being vegan, eagerly munching on all the veggies and fruits they can get. As a UT team member, I’m truly grateful for the privilege of caring for your furry family members. My goal is always to make them as comfortable and content as possible while they’re busy holding down the fort. To me, pet care is simple: Pets give us unconditional love, so they deserve the best life we can give them!
JENNY L
Hi, I’m Jenny! I’ve moved around a lot and kept a little bit of each place in my heart, but some of my fondest memories come from growing up in Michigan—going on runs with my dog that ended at the Cider Mill for doughnuts. I’ve also gone on preservation hikes in the forests near San Francisco and helped with habitat conservation efforts for manatees in Florida. Animals have always played a big role in my life—I’ve cared for dogs, cats, ferrets, turtles, and fish, and I’ve spent the last 10+ years offering dog walking and pet sitting services. I’ve worked with animals of all ages and temperaments, including those with special needs, and I love learning what makes each one unique. Right now, I share my life with Minnie, my adventurous three-year-old tortie cat who travels with me and prefers pet-friendly hotels with big windows. I’d love to adopt a dog again soon, but for now, walking and sitting help keep dogs close to my life while I wait for the right living situation.
If I were a dog, I’d be a Shiba Inu—creative, observant, good-natured, and always reading the room. On my days off, you’ll find me hanging with Minnie, making art that centers around environmental conservation, or doing something outdoors like hiking, camping, climbing, or biking around the city. What I love most about walking dogs is the magic in their joy—tails wagging, noses twitching, eyes sparkling. There’s something so grounding about being outside with a happy dog, and I’m grateful that I get to bring comfort and connection to both animals and their humans. Animals bring light to even the hardest days. They’re playful, intelligent, and endlessly unique—and if you’re paying attention, they have so much to teach.
JESSICA M
Hello! My name is Jessica! I’m a cat mom of 4! Boots, Snickers, Pepe and Slippers. I’m obsessed with my fur babies! I love to travel in the states and also out of the country, so I know the importance of having someone you can trust with taking care of your babies. I’m super excited to meet some amazing dogs! I can’t wait to get a dog of my own to join his/her cat siblings!
JORDAN B
Hey, I’m Jordan! I was born in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, but raised here in the Midwest between the northwest Chicagoland suburbs and Madison, Wisconsin. I’m a born animal lover—a trait I inherited from my papi, who was a rancher (among other things) back in Honduras. As a kid, I cleaned stalls so I could ride horses and trusted my hamster Snibbles with all my secrets. My brother gifted me two rescue kittens for Christmas when I was in elementary school, and I’ve had cats ever since. While I’ve never personally owned a dog, I’m very close with my brother’s dog Rufus, and I’ve been walking dogs since 2018—both for pay and to help out friends. Currently, I have a fluffy menace of a black longhaired cat named Cleo. People often say she reminds them of the soot sprites from Spirited Away, and I agree—she’s the greatest gift I’ve ever given myself!
Outside of dog walking, I’m an experimental filmmaker and writer. I’m passionate about regenerative agriculture, mutual aid, ecology, and visionary movement-making. My favorite part about walking dogs is getting to work outside, with my body, in relation to a more-than-human animal. I’ve always admired the shamelessness of non-human animals; I think they’re our greatest teachers when it comes to unapologetically being in our bodies. If I were a dog breed, I’d be a Shiba Inu—cat-like in my stubborn independence, but also goofy enough to be turned into a meme!
JOSH C
Hi, I’m Josh! I’m from Normal, Illinois, and I’ve been a professional dog trainer since 2019. I also volunteered with PAWS for a couple of years, which gave me valuable experience working with a wide range of dogs. My wife and I share our home with three rescue dogs: SirLicks A Lot, an Amstaff; Georgie, a Border Collie and Heeler mix; and Bug, our itty bitty mini pitty.
If I were a dog, I’d definitely be some kind of pittie mix. Outside of dog walking, I’m a singer and songwriter, and I love spending time outdoors with my wife and our dogs. My favorite thing about walking dogs is simple. The dogs themselves. I love how animals, especially dogs, are always ready to seize the day. They don’t dwell on the past and bring a kind of energy and presence that’s hard not to appreciate.
JUNIX A
Hi, I’m Junix! I’m originally from the Philippines, but I spent most of my childhood in Japan before moving to Ohio, then New York. I’m now a recent transplant to Chicago and figured there’s no better way to get to know the city than by exploring its neighborhoods with a few furry friends along the way. I’ve always been surrounded by dogs—growing up, if my family couldn’t find me, I was usually with them. That early love for animals followed me into adulthood, and in 2009, I welcomed Kaiser, my medium-sized Pomeranian, into my life. While he now enjoys a peaceful retirement with my parents back in the Philippines, my passion for caring for dogs continues through walking and volunteering with canine rescue groups.
If I were a dog, I’d probably be a Basenji—curious, independent, and meticulously clean. Outside of dog walking, I enjoy traveling with my wife, discovering new places through food, and staying active with basketball and Muay Thai. What I love most about walking dogs is the combination of movement, fresh air, and meaningful connection. It’s an opportunity to help dogs feel seen, engaged, and cared for during their day. Animals are honest and fully present—they communicate clearly through behavior and energy, and when they trust you, it’s one of the most genuine connections there is.
KATHY K
Hello, I’m Kathy! I grew up in a small town in Illinois and went to NIU for my Bachelor degree. I moved down south for 8 years where I worked in fitness and raised two beautiful Labradors.
Now that I’m back up north, I’m an in-home personal trainer and help take care of my clients pets when they are out of town. I’m very passionate about all animals and their happiness so this is absolutely the best job for EVERYONE involved.
KIM A
My name is Kimberly, but Call me Kim. I was born in Illinois, grew up in Jakarta Indonesia with 2 dogs; a German Shepherd and a Maltese mix. Being active is very important for my health and well being and so are dogs! I do all kinds of sports but some of my favorites are gymnastics and weightlifting.
KRIS J
I’m Kris, born here in the beautiful city of Chicago. I’ve been working with animals as a care provider for well over 8 years now. Ranging from dog sitting, to volunteer work with multiple non-for profits, I’ve assisted in the care of little critters to Great Danes. I currently have two cats and a pup that were all foster fails, ranging from 2-13 years of age. Outside of Dog walking, I have my own personal training business and I work event security on occasion. I absolutely believe I would be a Beagle, as I am high energy, vocal, and interested in eating absolutely everything.
KYLEE F
Hi, I’m Kylee! I’m originally from Sacramento, California, and I come from a big, dog-loving family. At one point, I was lucky enough to grow up alongside seven dogs, and I’ve been passionate about caring for animals ever since. We’ve always rescued bigger breeds, so I have a particular soft spot for gentle giants. Over the years, I’ve dog- and cat-sat for many friends, and being a part of their pets’ lives always brings me so much joy. Back home, I have two dogs—Samson, a 150-pound black mastiff with the biggest paws you’ve ever seen, and Dax, an 80-pound mastiff mix who might just be the sweetest soul I’ve ever met. Visiting them over holiday breaks is always a highlight.
If I were a dog, I’d be a pit bull—fierce but kind, with a big heart. Outside of dog walking, I’m a lifelong dancer and currently a dance minor in school, balancing rehearsals with my nursing studies. I’ve been dancing since I was three, and it remains one of my biggest passions. What I love most about walking dogs is experiencing the world through their eyes—what catches their attention, where they stop to sniff, and yes, even their squirrel obsessions. Animals, to me, are pure-hearted and eager to both give and receive love. No matter the species, they always seem to carry the sweetest souls—and they’re all incredibly cute, too!
LAURA S
I’m a lot of things…north-sider, social worker, cyclist….but of all, I’m thrilled to spend time with your dear pup while you are away.
I’m new to Urban Tailz, but have had dogs all my life. I was heavily involved with PAWS, and eventually adopted my own sweet girl who stole my heart and changed my life forever.
Whether your pup is ready for action, or on the shy-side (my favorite!), all dogs are very special to me, and I look forward to giving them lots of love and a good time outside.
I look forward to meeting you!!
LAURA S
Hi, I’m Laura! I moved here to Chicago from Indiana to study visual art. Like many of the creative persuasion, however, I have not made my field of study into a career…Instead I turned my long-standing passion for thrifting and vintage into an online, pop-up, and brick-and-mortar business and have been selling vintage clothing and home furnishings for 13 years.
When I’m not on the hunt for treasures at estate sales and thrift shops, I’m also performing vocals and/or keyboards in two bands, and eating my way through the vegan-friendly restaurants in Chicago. I’m also a longtime multiple cat owner and black cat aficionado.
I’m so happy to be working with Urban Tailz! Visiting and caring for all the client kitties has been a dream job for me, and the management staff are incredible to work for!!
LARISSA C
Hi, I’m Larissa! I’m from the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago and have been caring for dogs for many years. I started as a dog walker in high school and continued through part of college. I also cared for a family dog while working as a nanny for two families, which gave me consistent, hands-on experience with daily pet care. In my early 20s, I had a sweet Alaskan Malamute rescue of my own, who was a very special part of my life.
I enjoy being around dogs and building a connection with them over time. What I love most about walking dogs is being part of their routine and spending time with them throughout the day. Animals bring a lot of joy into everyday life, and I value every opportunity to care for them.
LESLEY C
Hi, I’m Lesley! I’m originally from Chicago, with roots in the southwest suburbs, and I’ve also spent time living in Texas. My experience with animals started with a few beloved family pets growing up and grew over time as I became the go-to sitter for friends’ and relatives’ furry companions. While I don’t currently have any pets of my own, I’ve always had a deep love and respect for animals and enjoy every opportunity to spend time with them. If I were a dog, I’d be an Afghan Hound—independent, intelligent, and maybe just a little stubborn when it comes to training!
Outside of dog walking, I’m passionate about travel, trying new cuisines, meeting people, and immersing myself in different cultures. I also have a deep obsession with design, architecture, and real estate—the aesthetics of space and structure always catch my eye. For me, walking dogs and caring for animals is deeply rewarding. There’s something truly special about the connection that forms and the unconditional love they offer in return. It’s a joy that feels simple, grounding, and endlessly good—for both the animal and the caretaker.
LILA R
Hi, I’m Lila! I was born and raised in Chicago, growing up in Albany Park and Logan Square. My experience with animals is mostly with dogs, and they’ve been part of my life since childhood. At my grandmother’s house, we had three dogs, and at my mother’s house, I had one dog. Throughout my childhood and adulthood, I’ve always had dogs around me, and I truly feel that a dog completes a home. I don’t currently have any pets, but I have a three-year-old daughter, and my senior dog was a very special part of my life.
If I were a dog, I’d probably be a pit bull, though I love a variety of breeds. Outside of dog walking, I like going to concerts and seeing movies. What I love most about walking dogs is the one-on-one time, getting to bond with them, give them love, and share plenty of pets and snuggles. What I love most about animals is how innocent and loving they are.
LINDSEY Q
Hi, I’m Lindsey! I’ve lived in Logan Square since 2005 and love exploring the neighborhood with the animals of Urban Tailz! I am an animal- and nature-loving artist who recently shifted careers to get some sunshine and fresh air and grow my handmade craft business, made by Q.
I love meeting new four-legged friends, exploring the neighborhood with them on our walks, and giving them all the pets they want. They make me laugh and keep me on my toes, and I try to snap a picture of their best moments! I grew up with all kinds of pets and recently adopted a Boston Terrier – Chihuahua mix named Chuy.
When I’m not out on walks, you may find me tending a local community garden, hunting for vintage at thrift stores, exploring the hop options at breweries across the city, or selling my handmade eco-friendly goods at local craft shows on the weekends.
I look forward to taking good care of your favorite furball!
MARY F
Hey! I’m Mary. I recently moved to the city from Minneapolis and am so excited to explore the town while spending time with fluffy friends. I’m a comedian and writer currently studying at Second City. When I’m not walking dogs I enjoy looking at pictures of dogs, talking about dogs, and face timing with our family dog, Dorothy- pictured above on her first birthday.
MASON C
Hi, I’m Mason! I grew up on a farm in Hinckley, Illinois, and later moved to Irving Park in Chicago. I’ve been surrounded by all kinds of domestic animals my whole life, especially rabbits, chickens, pigs, and dogs. That environment gave me a strong appreciation for animal care from an early age. Right now, I have a pet rabbit named Lily. She’s an English Lop and definitely knows she’s the princess of the house.
If I were a dog, I’d probably be a Newfoundland, since I have an easygoing attitude and enjoy relaxing after a long day. Outside of dog walking, I work as a zookeeper, caring for domestic farm animals and North American native animals. My favorite part about walking dogs is that every walk feels like a unique and enriching experience for both of us. What I love most about animals is their individuality. Getting to know their personalities feels like making a new friend each time.
MASON S
Hi, I’m Mason! I’m originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and now based in Chicago. I’ve had dogs in my life for as long as I can remember, and I’ve been working professionally in pet care and dog walking for the past three years. That hands-on experience has deepened my appreciation for different personalities and temperaments, and I truly enjoy the routine of caring for animals. At home, I live with two wonderful dogs of my own—Ollie and Moped—who keep me grounded and entertained in equal measure.
If I were a dog, I’d be a Great Pyrenees—calm, gentle, and easygoing. Outside of dog walking, I enjoy creating art, working on design projects, staying active, and exploring everything the city has to offer. What I love most about walking dogs is the fresh air, the movement, and the simple joy dogs bring to every outing. Their excitement is infectious, and their companionship is a great reminder to be present. Animals are some of the best teachers I know—through their trust, consistency, and unconditional presence, they brighten every day.
MOONLIGHT H
Hi, I’m Moonlight! I’m originally from a small suburb in Michigan, and my love for animals has been a big part of my life for many years. I share my life with my senior cat, Tiger, who’s taught me so much about patience, care, and responsibility. Alongside caring for him, I’ve spent years doing freelance dog walking, which has helped me build a strong understanding of different animal personalities and needs.
If I were a dog, I’d be a Miniature Pinscher—serious on the outside, but actually very sweet once you get to know me. Outside of dog walking, I enjoy drawing, crocheting, and reading. What I love most about walking dogs is getting to learn each of their unique personalities and quirks. More broadly, I admire how decisive animals are—they know what they like, what they don’t, and they aren’t afraid to show it. Spending time with them is a great reminder to trust your instincts and be more confident in your own choices.
NICOLE F
Hi, I’m Nicole! I’m originally from Northbrook, Illinois, and animals have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I volunteered for several years at Heartland Animal Shelter in Wheeling during high school and later worked as a veterinary assistant at BluePearl Animal Hospital, where I gained hands-on experience supporting animals through a wide range of needs. Growing up, my family had a rescued Lab mix named Bear, who was truly special. As an adult, I foster-failed with another rescue Lab mix named Remy, who became my constant companion. Remy had been rehomed multiple times due to high anxiety, but once she learned to trust, she gave unconditional love and stability. She passed away a few weeks ago, but she taught me everything I know about patience, empathy, and caring for dogs who need a little extra understanding.
If I were a dog, I’d definitely be a Labrador—empathetic, loyal to my people, and highly snack-motivated. Outside of dog walking, I work as a certified pharmacy technician at Rush University and enjoy exercising, spending time with friends and family, and traveling with my boyfriend. Dog walking is deeply fulfilling for me because it allows me to give each pup my full, undivided attention. I treat every dog as if they were my own, with patience, compassion, and care. Animals love without conditions or expectations—they’re honest, grounding, and quietly empathetic. The connection they offer is judgment-free and deeply meaningful, and I feel incredibly grateful to share my time with them.
OLIVIA R
Hi, I’m Olivia! I’m from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and grew up with a Jack Russell Terrier mix named Max. I also regularly help take care of my aunt’s Husky/Retriever mix, Damien. While I don’t have any pets of my own at the moment, I’m hoping that changes soon! If I were a dog, I’d be a Samoyed—fluffy, friendly, and full of energy.
What I love most about walking dogs is having a little adventure buddy with me. I already enjoy going for walks, so sharing that time with a pup just makes it even better. Animals all have their own unique personalities, and I love getting to bond with each one. Outside of dog walking, I’m a classical musician, so you’ll often find me playing in orchestras or teaching music.
PERRY R
Hi, I’m Perry! I’m originally from Northwest Indiana and moved to Chicago in 2011, with a brief few years spent living in Indianapolis. I’ve always been an animal lover—growing up, we usually had 3-4 cats and at least one dog in the house at all times. I was the kid who brought home every stray I found, from cats to birds to (once) several baby possums. While living in Indianapolis, I also spent time volunteering at the Humane Society. These days, I share my life with one very special pup—August, my small but mighty Chug (Chihuahua/Pug), who is the light of my life. If I were a dog, I’d probably be something small and sporty like a Beagle or a Jack Russell Terrier.
I love walking dogs simply because I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals—I’m definitely that “Can I say hi to your dog?” person. Animals are incredibly authentic; they always show you exactly how they feel, if you take the time to notice. The snuggles are pretty great, too. Outside of dog walking, I’m an outdoor enthusiast and beach bum who loves biking and running. I’m also an avid thrifter, passionate about sustainability, and a lifelong artist who enjoys illustration, painting, and building miniatures.
RACHEL B
Hi, I’m Rachel! I was born and raised in Chicago and have been around animals for as long as I can remember. I like to joke that I was raised in a barn—because I practically was! Horses, dogs, cats, and all kinds of critters have always been a part of my life, and I’ve developed a deep love and understanding of animal behavior over the years. While I don’t currently have pets of my own, my dad’s dogs are basically my honorary children and keep me happily in the loop when it comes to daily dog energy.
If I were a dog, I’d be a Wheaten Terrier—friendly, fluffy, and full of personality. Outside of dog walking, I’m always keeping my hands busy. Lately, I’ve been diving into metal-working and loving the challenge of trying something new. What I love most about walking dogs is the simple connection—those moments when they look back to make sure you’re still with them, just as excited as they are. Animals are pure, sincere, and fully themselves, and getting to spend part of my day with them is a privilege I never take for granted.
RACHEL L
RIC O
Hello there, I’m Erica! I’m from the rolling hills and hollers of Missouri. I grew up with canines, cats, birds, small mammals, reptiles, and chickens! My house growing up was known as a zoo. Now I’m the caretaker of two kitties, Miss Kitty and Puppie. When I’m outside of Chicago, I’m usually working as a farmhand, managing a livestock herd is my favorite responsibility.
My spirit dog is a border collie. I’m task oriented, energetic, and loyal. To help me dispel my energy, you can find me hiking, cycling, or swimming! I love dog-walking as it combines my two loves; walking and animals! Animals make my life fuller, they force me to slow-down and engage with the world.
ROSS C
Hi, I’m Ross! I’m originally from Houston, Texas, and I’ve been surrounded by animals for as long as I can remember. I grew up with a house full of cats and a dachshund, and I’ve been walking dogs professionally since 2018. These days, I live with Queenie, my black-and-white cat who definitely runs the show at home. If I were a dog, I’d be a Jack Russell Terrier/Dachshund mix—let’s call it a Jackshund—full of energy, curiosity, and a little bit of mischief.
Outside of walking dogs, I love playing music, doing improv, and making fun, creative videos. What I enjoy most about dog walking is the way dogs show love—enthusiastically, unconditionally, and without hesitation. There’s something incredibly grounding in that kind of connection. One of my favorite things about animals in general is how emotionally honest they are. They never hide how they feel, and that kind of openness is rare in the world. With animals, what you see is what you get—and that’s part of what makes spending time with them so special.
SARAH N
Hi, I’m Sarah! I was born and raised in Missouri but now live in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago. I’ve been surrounded by animals my whole life—my mom’s a vet, so I grew up caring for everything from dogs, cats, birds, and reptiles to larger animals like cows, horses, and sheep. That early exposure sparked a deep love for animal companions of all kinds, and I’ve carried that with me into adulthood. These days, I live with Goose, my chatty and charming feline roommate. He’s been with me for three years now, and even at eight years old, he hasn’t lost an ounce of his personality.
If I were a dog, I’d be a Doberman Pinscher—especially the inquisitive, family-oriented, and goofy kind. I thrive on being outdoors (even in the rain!) and totally relate to the joy animals show when they get to step outside for a walk, stretch their legs, and soak in the world around them. It’s genuinely the best part of my day. I’m also passionate about storytelling in all its forms—music, books, film, you name it—and I love working with my hands, whether that means crafting something new or fixing something old. What I admire most about animals is their ability to live in the moment. Their presence, curiosity, and trust are something I never take for granted.
SCOTT E
Hi, I’m Scott! I grew up in a small town in Eastern Iowa and have always had dogs as part of my life. My family had four dogs while I was growing up, and I was always the one who formed especially close bonds with them. After college, I got my own dog, Murphy, who was truly my soulmate. He was a 25-pound grey Lhasa Poo, and if I were a dog, I would be just like him.
Outside of dog walking, I love fishing, playing softball, basketball, and golf, even if I play them pretty poorly. I also enjoy going to concerts and sporting events. Go Cubs Go! What I love most about walking dogs is the shared freedom of getting outside together and seeing what the day brings. Animals have a way of teaching us about the interconnectedness of life, and I think that’s incredibly special.
SCOTTY S
Hi, I’m Scotty! I’m from the southwest suburbs and have spent the last 30 years caring for all sorts of pets and animals. My sixteen-year-old cockapoo currently lives outside of Atlanta, so I don’t get to see her often, but I do get plenty of quality time with my sister’s golden doodle whenever I want. If I were a dog, I’d be a mix between a Golden Retriever and a Belgian Malinois—loving, full of energy, and just a little bit off the wall.
My favorite part about walking dogs is seeing the pure joy and excitement they feel just being out in the world. Animals equal joy. I love how inquisitive they are—always curious, always trying to figure things out, much like we do as humans. Outside of dog walking, I play guitar and write music every day, and I spend a good amount of time playing baseball as well.
SHIRLEY S
Hi, I’m Shirley! I’ve lived in Chicago my whole life and know the city’s neighborhoods and walking routes like the back of my hand. My experience with animals comes from years of being a dedicated dog owner and helping friends and family care for their pets. I’ve worked with a variety of temperaments, including strong-willed and reactive dogs, and I love getting to know each animal’s unique personality and communication style. I currently live with Xóchitl, my smart and independent Australian Cattle Dog, who’s taught me plenty about structure, patience, and the joy of a strong bond.
If I were a dog, I’d probably be a Cattle Dog myself—energetic, loyal, observant, and just a little bit stubborn in the best way. Outside of dog walking, I enjoy hiking and running with Xóchitl, as well as reading, cooking, and anything that lets me slow down and be creative. I’ve always been someone who enjoys staying active, so walking fits seamlessly into my routine. What I love most about walking dogs is the joy they bring to the moment—the excitement, the curiosity, the way they just light up while exploring the world. Animals are honest and present, and when you earn their trust, they offer the kind of connection that feels incredibly grounding.
SYDNEY H
Hi, I’m Sydney! I’m from Kalamazoo, Michigan, and I’ve spent the last several years working in veterinary offices. That experience has given me lots of hands-on time with animals and helped deepen my appreciation for their care and companionship. I currently have a cat of my own, who keeps animals as an important part of my daily life.
If I were a dog, I’d be a German Shepherd. Outside of dog walking, I enjoy rock climbing and am currently working on my master’s degree. What I love most about walking dogs is the chance to be outside while spending time with animals. Animals provide such meaningful love and companionship, and that connection is what I appreciate most about them.
VIANNA H
Hi, I’m Vianna! I was born and raised in the northwest side of Chicago in Logan Square for 20 years. Since then I moved and currently reside in Belmont Cragin.
Growing up I always loved animals and when I met my childhood toy poodle dog, Peluche it became clear that dogs had a special place in my heart. Peluche taught me everything I know about how special pets are. They become less like pets and more like family members or best friends. I took care of him from when he was a puppy up until he was 16 years old. I enjoyed every minute I got to spend with him and he impacted my life in so many ways. I currently own a mixed-breed dog, Adolfo who’s one of my best friends. Adolfo taught me to recognize that not all dogs are the same, some require more patience than others. He’s considered a rescue and I’m proud to say that he now lives a happier life.
Besides caring for my dog I occasionally pet-sit for family and friends. Therefore, I look forward to meeting your pets and loving and caring for them as if they were my own!
Outside of dog walking I enjoy spending time with my dog and family, listening to music, watching movies or YouTube videos, and doing puzzles. I love walking dogs because it is a great way to bond with dogs, exercise, and spend time outdoors. Over time I have grown to appreciate the kind of bond you can have with cats. I have interacted and played with cats before and it can be just as rewarding as bonding with dogs. I look forward to meeting and bonding with your pets and promise to prioritize their safety and happiness!
YANITZIA S
Hi, I’m Yanitzia! I’m from Chicago, the City in a Garden, and I’ve been surrounded by animals and nature my whole life. Growing up, I had cats of my own but was always around a wide variety of animals, from dogs and birds to reptiles, amphibians, fish, and even crustaceans. Spending time outdoors with my family, exploring nature and learning to identify different plants and wildlife, helped shape my appreciation for the natural world and all the creatures in it. My first pet as an adult was a Cavalier King Charles named CuChulainn, who was a constant companion and source of light during some of life’s most challenging moments. While I don’t currently have a pet of my own, I truly cherish every opportunity to spend time with animals.
If I were a dog, I would be a mix between a Boxer and a German Shepherd, equal parts playful and thoughtful, with a balance of energy and seriousness. Outside of dog walking, I love playing piano and singing, knitting, and diving into subjects like physics, engineering, and sociology. What I enjoy most about walking dogs is simply being outside. There is something peaceful and energizing about sharing that time, whether it is a calm stroll or a more lively adventure. What fascinates me most about animals is their consciousness, the unique ways each one processes, understands, and navigates the world. Even within the same species, every animal offers a new perspective, and I love learning from that.
